  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (divided)
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef: Mix 1 tablespoon soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil in a bowl. Add beef strips and marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Cook onions: In a skillet over medium heat, sauté sliced onions in 1 tablespoon vegetable oil until soft and caramelized (5-7 minutes). Season with salt and pepper and remove from pan.
  3. Sear beef: In the same skillet over high heat, add remaining vegetable oil. Stir-fry marinated beef for 2-3 minutes until browned but tender.
  4. Prepare sauce: Whisk together remaining soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch; pour over cooked beef. Simmer until thickened (about 2 minutes).
  5. Combine: Return sautéed onions to skillet; stir everything together. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
