- 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for binding)
- Vegetable oil for frying
- In a food processor, coarsely chop the peeled shrimp.
- Transfer to a bowl; mix in breadcrumbs, egg, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper until sticky.
- Shape into one-inch balls.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet until hot. Fry shrimp balls in batches for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
