  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for binding)
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, coarsely chop the peeled shrimp.
  2. Transfer to a bowl; mix in breadcrumbs, egg, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper until sticky.
  3. Shape into one-inch balls.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet until hot. Fry shrimp balls in batches for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Drain on paper towels and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
