  • 6 ounces fresh mozzarella pearls
  • 12 ounces cherry tomatoes
  • Fresh basil
  • Balsamic vinegar glaze
  • 1 demi baguette
  • ½ cup basil pesto
  • Gel food coloring (black)
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Place mozzarella pearls in silicone skull molds and bake for 6-7 minutes until just melted.
  3. Shape the cheese into skulls using a spoon; allow to cool.
  4. Increase oven temperature to 475°F.
  5. Halve cherry tomatoes, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper, then roast for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Slice baguette into ½-inch pieces and toast for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden.
  7. Mix basil pesto with black gel food coloring and spread on toasted bread slices.
  8. Return to oven for another quick toast, then top each slice with roasted tomatoes and mozzarella skulls.
  9. Drizzle with balsamic glaze before serving.
