  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • Marinara sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: Combine warm water and sugar in a large bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit until foamy.
  2. Mix the Dough: Add salt, canola oil, and two cups of flour to the activated yeast. Mix well, adding more flour gradually until a soft dough forms.
  3. Let It Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about an hour until doubled in size.
  4. Shape the Bones: Punch down the dough, divide into 16 pieces, roll each into a rope, and twist into bone shapes.
  5. Second Rise: Arrange shaped breadsticks on a baking sheet and let them rise for another hour.
  6. Preheat & Bake: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake breadsticks for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Finish & Serve: Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan cheese while warm.
